Free Pattern: Muta


Free Pattern: Muta (from "Whisper of the Heart" And "The Cat Returns")

What you Need:
About an ounce of white worsted weight yarn
A very small ammount each of black and brown worsted weight yarn
A 5.00 mm hook
Safety Eyes/ Buttons

Abbreviations:
Sc- single crochet
Dec- 2 single crochet together
Inc- 2 single crochet in same stitch
Ch- chain stitch

Muta Pattern:

Body:
With White yarn,
1. Ch 2, work 8 sc in first ch
2. (1 sc, inc) around
3. (2 sc, inc) around
4. (3 sc, inc)
5-19. (15 rows) Sc around
20. (sc 3, dec) around
21. (2 sc, dec) around
22-26. (5 rows) Sc around
If you are using safety eyes, now would be a good time to put them on.
27. (sc 1, dec) around
28. dec around
Stuff
29. Dec until hole closes up
fasten off

Arms (make 2):
With White yarn,
1. ch 2, 6 sc in first ch
2-5. (4 rows) sc around
6. (dec, sc 2) x2
7-15. (7 rows) Sc around
Fasten off

Sew to body at hand and shoulder (no need to stuff), making sure not to lay it flat, but leaving the elbow sticking out a little bit, so it looks like he has his hands on his hips. Use the picture above for reference.

Ears (make 2, one with brown and one with white worsted weight yarn):
1. Ch 3
2-3. (2 rows) Sc across
4. Dec
Fasten off
Sew to head

Feet (make 2):
With white worsted weight yarn,
1. Sc 2, 8 sc in first ch
2. 2 sc around
3-4. (2 rows) Sc around
5. Dec around
6. Sc around
Stuff, and sew to body.

Details:
Embroider the face, using a picture of Muta or my picture above as a guide.
