Free Pattern: Chubby Mouse

I made this one for a Studio Ghibli swap. He's based on the character "Boh" from "Spirited Away." Enjoy!



What You'll Need:
-A small amount of worsted weight yarn in light tan and cream
-An even smaller amount of worsted weight yarn in pink, black, and yellow
-Safety eyes
-A 5.00 mm crochet hook
-Polyfil (or stuffing of your choice)

Abbreviations:
Sc- Single Crochet
Ch- Chain
Sl st- Slip Stitch
Dec- decrease (2 single crochet together)
Inc- increase (2 sc in same stitch)

Boh:

Head and Body:
With tan,
1. Ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook
2. Inc around
3. (1 sc, inc) around
4. (2 sc, inc) around
5. (3 sc, inc) around
6-12. (7 rows) Sc around
13. (Sc 7, dec)x 3, sc 2
14. (Sc 6, dec)x3, sc 2
15-16. (2 rows) Sc around
17. (3 sc, dec) around
18. Sc around
19. 3 sc in next st, sc in next 2 st, 3 sc in next st, sc the rest of the round
20. 2 sc in next 3 st, sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next 3 st, sc the rest of the round
21. 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, dec, 2 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc the rest of the round
22. Sc in next 5 st, dec, dec, sc the rest of the round

Now would be a good time to add the safety eyes and embroider his nose.
25. Sc, dec, sc in next 5 st, dec, sc around

Stuff
29-30. Dec until the hole is small enough to sew up. Fasten off.

Tummy:
With cream,
1. Ch 2, 8 sc in first ch
2. Inc around
3. (sc, inc) around
4. (2 sc, inc) around
5. (3 sc, inc) around
sl st, fasten off
Sew to body, right sides together, using the picture as a guide.

Ears (make 2)
With tan, 
1. Ch 2, sc 4 in first ch
2. Ch 1, turn. Sc 4, fasten off
Pinch the bottom of the ear together and sew to Boh's head.

Arms (make 2):
With tan, 
1. Ch 2, 8 sc in first ch
2-3. (2 rows) Sc around
4-5. (2 rows) (Dec, sc in next 2 st) around
6-7. (2 rows) Sc around
8. Dec around
Fasten off, stitch on some pink toes, and sew to Boh's body.

Feets! (make 2):
With pink,
(Ch 4, sl st in first ch) x3
Fasten off, attach to body. Use the picture as a guide.

Tail (pink)
With pink,
1. Ch 2, 3 sc in first ch
2. Sc around
3. Inc around
4-10. (7 rows) Sc around
Fasten off, sew to body. If you'd like, put a pipe cleaner on the inside to make it pose-able. 

Boh's Birdy Companion:

Body:
With black,
1. Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch
2. Sc around
3. Inc around
4-5. (2 rows) Sc around
6. Dec around
7. Sc around
8. Dec around
Stuff and sew shut

Wings (make 2):
With black,
1. Ch 3
2-4. (3 rows) Ch 1, turn. Sc across
Fasten off, sew to body.

Beak (make 2):
With yellow, 
1. Ch 2
2. Sc in first ch, ch 1, turn
3. Inc in first st, ch 1, turn
4. Sc across
Fasten off.
Sew the two halves of the beak together, and attach to the birdy's body.

Secure the little birdy to Boh's head with a few stitches.

Weave in all ends, and you're finished!

Free Pattern: Kyo Kitty

I made this pattern for one of my closest friends who loves Fruits Basket (and Kyo especially). Enjoy! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Also: if you make anything using my pattern, I'd love to see them. Thanks!




What You Will Need:
-Orange Worsted Weight Yarn (about an ounce will do it)
-A small amount of flesh colored worsted weight yarn
-An even smaller amount of black yarn (or safety eyes)
-A 5.00 mm and a 5.5 mm crochet hook


Notes:
Use a 5.00 mm crochet hook on all pieces except for the back paws.

Abbreviations:
Ch- chain
Sc- Single Crochet
Inc- Increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
Dec- Decrease (sc 2 together

Kyo:


Head:
Using flesh color,
1. Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch.
2. 2 sc in each sc around
3. (sc 1, inc) around
4. (sc 2, inc) around
5. (sc 3, inc) around
6-9. (4 rows) Sc around
10. (3sc, dec) around
11. (2 sc, dec) around
12. (sc, dec) around
13. Dec around
Fasten off, stuff (be careful not to overstuff!)

Hood
Using orange,
1. Ch 2, 8 sc in first ch
2. Inc around
3. (sc, inc) around
4. (2sc, inc) around
5-8. (4 rows) sc around
9. (2 sc, dec) around
10. (sc, dec) around
Fasten off, slip over the head and overstitch around the opening to secure.

Body:
Using orange,
1. Ch 2, 8 sc in first ch
2. (sc, inc) around
3. (2 sc, inc) around
4. (3 sc, inc) around
5-14. (9 rows) Sc around
15. (3 sc, dec) around
16. (2 sc, dec) around
17-19. (3 rows) Sc around
20. (sc, dec) around
21. Dec around
Stuff, and dec until hole closes up. Fasten off, and sew head to body.

Paws: 
For front paws, use a 5 mm crochet hook, and for back paws, use a 5.5 mm crochet hook.
With orange,
1. Ch 2, 6 sc in first st
2. Inc around
3. (Sc, inc) around
4-5. (2 rows) Sc around
6. (2 sc, dec) around
7. (sc, dec) around
8. Sc around
Fasten off

For front paws:
Stuff (but not too much!) and sew to body. You can use the picture above for a reference.

For back paws:
Put a little ball of stuffing in the toe end of the paw, and pinch the other end shut. Sew to the bottom of the body.

Tail:
With orange,
1. Ch 2, 6 sc in first ch
Sc around for 10 rows.

Fasten off. Fold a super thick pipe cleaner into quarters and use instead of stuffing to make his tail pose-able. Sew to body.

Ears:
With orange,
1. Ch 2, 3 sc in first ch
2-3. (2 rows) Sc around
4. Inc around
5. Sc around
Fasten off, sew to head.

Finishing:
Embroider a face onto Kyo, weave in all ends. And you're done! Make sure not to feed him leeks!
